Sarah Espenshade is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a third generation entrepreneur. Sarah established Espenshade Counseling in 2015 and has sucessfully assembled a diverse team and extensive network of highly skilled professionals with a wide range of specialties. Sarah has over 15 years of clinical experience treating individuals and families in residential, outpatient, academic, and community based settings and provides ongoing consultation and support to a wide range of professionals, organizations and institutions.

Sarah specializes in supporting high profile individuals and families. Her personal experience with multi-generational wealth and privilege provides her with a unique firsthand understanding of the complex nuances associated with the culture of affluence. Sarah is an expert at developing comprehensive treatment plans that are customized to address the specific needs and wants of each individual client.

In 2018, Sarah launched The TEAMS (Trauma, Eating Disorders, Addiction Mental health Specialists) program. Sarah and her team strive to provide EC clients and collaborating professionals with exceptional service and care at every touchpoint. “We recognize the complexity of the healing process and the importance of creating ‘safe place’ to promote trust and courage.” Sarah and her team employ a client centered, tauma informed, family systems oriented and holistic approach consisting of evidence-based practices and cutting edge modalities of care.

Sarah earned a Masters degree in Social Work from Temple University and a Bachelors of Arts degree in History from the University of Pennsylvania. She has additional training in a wide range of therapeutic modalities including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Efficacy Therapy (EET) Motivational Interviewing, Experiential and Exposure Therapies, Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Experiencing (SE). Sarah also has extensive training and experience conducting clinical interventions and has assisted many individuals and families navigate crisis situations and engage their loved ones into treatment. Sarah provides ongoing support and clinical oversight to promote long term success.

Sarah collaborates closely with other reputable professionals and organizations in the Philadelphia metropolitan area and throughout the country to develop meaningful programming. Sarah is also a proud member of the Association of The Family Firm Institute, and the American Psychological Association.
